I’m your host Monica Kapila and this week we have James Piecowye veteran rj, podcast host and associated professor at the college of communication and media studies at Zayed university in Dubai, wanting to learn about the advantages of the Oxygen Advantage technique of breathing not only for his podcasting students but also for anyone that wants to breathe better!
So what’s it all about?
The concept focuses on breathing ONLY THROUGH YOUR NOSE most of the time.
Consciously INCORPORATING YOUR LOWER RIBS while inhaling and exhaling
Controlling the NUMBER OF BREATHS inhaled and exhaled per minute.
and incorporating BREATH HOLDING exercises. But don’t worry, not like a free diver!
How has this method of breathing helped me
It helps me calm down and stop my mind from racing. It helps me relax a bit when I wake up in the middle of the night and worry about not being able to get back to sleep. LISTEN to our podcast on Yin Yoga for better sleep.
When something goes wrong that I have no control over, I now have a go to technique to use that helps put things in perspective. I don’t need to be in a quiet place or meditate to breathe in this way.
MMA fighters use this technique for more stamina but it’s for everyone.
